AREAS OF EMPHASIS
While specializing in providing advice to professional organizations, staffing companies and human resources outsourcing companies across the country, Mr. Nugent also provides representation to businesses and management in the areas of general corporate, mergers & acquisitions, contracts, state and federal regulatory defense, unemployment regulatory defense and audits (including allegations of SUTA dumping), employment law and litigation.
BACKGROUND
Mr. Nugent holds a B.S. in Management from Florida State University and a law degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he was Law Review Editor. He has managed large, complex cases involving billions of dollars and represented insurance companies and other interests in actions brought by the government. He also served as General Counsel of a publicly traded temporary staffing company and Chief Legal Officer of a large professional employer organization in Tampa, Florida before relocating with his family to Colorado in 2004.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Mr. Nugent served on the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Florida for over ten years, including as the Chairman of the Board. He has also served on the board of Tallahassee Sports Council and the Tallahassee Convention and Visitors Bureau. He currently volunteers as a coach in the Poudre School District (junior high football and basketball) and as a baseball coach in the Fort Collins Baseball Club.
